I feel strongly that the look-and-feel is great.

Along similar lines, I don't know if you saw it but Google recently
announced a new set of functions in testing for making mashups easier.

It looks like it may be fairly simple to make something that would show a
map view of user group meeting locations with links to more information...
We would still have to have a site for managing the locations and
date/times, but the google maps would take care of much of the rest
including turning an address into a map location.
