Start off by taking a look at the Python Tutorial http://www.python.org/doc/current/tut/tut.html - I found it to be a really good intro to Python. There's a number of good books about too, I bought Learning Python, published by O'Reilly. Have a look at http://amk.ca/bookstore for a list of Python books.
