Nobody stepped forward for this month's presentation. That's a bit unusual lately as we had been booked up a couple of months in advance for over a year. And we don't have anybody for June yet either (although we do have a speaker for July). Ordinarily in this situation I simply pick up the pieces by making a presentation myself. However, this month has been especially time consuming. My mother died a week and a half ago and I have a hairy deadline at work. So I don't really have the cycles to make a good feature length presentation. So I'm going to do the best I can do and give what may be an extended lightning talk on what I think is an exciting technology called Jupyter Dashboards that allows you to take a Jupyter Notebook and turn it into an interactive web application ala Shiny. What I would really appreciate is for the rest of you to come with a lightning talk as well. We've had all lightning talk meetings in the past and they're been some of our very best meetings. I hope to see you there. Be sure on planning the after-meeting at Bada Wings for food and friendship: http://tripython.org/Members/sgambino/may-16-mtg When: Thursday, May 26, 7-9pm Where: WebAssign, NCSU Centennial Campus 1791 Varsity Drive, Suite 200, Raleigh What: """Chris Calloway will give a lightning talk about Jupyter Dashboards, a technology to turn your Jupyter Notebooks into interactive web applications ala Shiny. Plenty of free after hours parking is available in the upper level of the deck behind WebAssign (turn through the median just before the intersection of Varsity and Main Campus Drives). If the door is locked, call the number posted on the door. An after-meeting location for food and beverage will be decided at the meeting (usually BaDa Wings for the Thursday night draught specials).""" -- Sincerely, Chris Calloway, Applications Analyst UNC Renaissance Computing Institute 100 Europa Drive, Suite 540, Chapel Hill, NC 27517 (919) 599-3530 From aikimark at aol.com Fri May 27 15:46:00 2016 From: aikimark at aol.com (Mark Hutchinson) Date: Fri, 27 May 2016 15:46:00 -0400 Subject: [TriPython] NCDOH - June 4th Message-ID: <154f3c081e1-7d6d-3236@webstg-a07.mail.aol.com> Please volunteer at the National Civic Day of Hacking next Saturday (June 4th) in downtown Durham. http://www.meetup.com/Triangle-Code-for-America/events/230559331/ Thanks, Mark -------------- next part -------------- Please volunteer at the National Civic Day of Hacking next Saturday (June 4th) in downtown Durham. http://www.meetup.com/Triangle-Code-for-America/events/230559331/ Thanks, Mark From jere at arista.com Fri May 27 15:09:16 2016 From: jere at arista.com (Jere Julian) Date: Fri, 27 May 2016 15:09:16 -0400 Subject: [TriPython] We're hiring in Cary Message-ID: I was hoping to announce this at last night's meeting but I wound up out of town so hitting up the list, instead.
