A lot of people are signed up so I might have to get extra pizza. (Don't worry. You don't have to sign up on meetup.com to come. But if you do sign up, please make sure you are coming. The sign-up counts are often wildly off. So sometimes we end up with too much pizza. Not a bad class of problem. But a sometimes expensive one.) http://tripython.org/Members/sgambino/dec-15-rpn/ When: Tuesday, December 1, 6-9pm Where: WebAssign, NCSU Centennial Campus 1791 Varsity Drive, Suite 200, Raleigh """ Raleigh Project Night meets on first Tuesdays. Have a project you want to show off, share, seek help with, or just get some work done surrounded by like minded Python lovers? Join us for our monthly project night and do just that! Don't have something to work on? Just need some help with Python? Show up and enjoy the energy, sprint on an open source project, find something interesting to contribute to or be inspired by! The setting is informal and there is no schedule, so don't worry if you show up past the start time. Whether you are a Python newbie needing help or have an open source project you want to share, come hang out and hack. Plenty of free after hours parking is available in the upper level of the deck behind WebAssign (turn through the median just before the intersection of Varsity and Main Campus Drives). If the door is locked, call the number posted on the door. Traditionally, there has been a focus on the pharmaceutical drug development pipeline. Because of the dramatic growth of biological and chemical data, often referred to as "Big Data", the applicability of computational methods like data mining and machine learning has been extended to nearly every corner of chemical sciences. Dr. Isayev is a Research Scientist at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2008, he received his Ph.D. in computational chemistry from Jackson State University. He was Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Case Western Reserve University and a senior scientist at the US Army ERDC before joining UNC in 2013. It is probably not as advanced as Melodie Moorefield-Wilson's awesome Pandas presentation to TriPython. My talk is pretty painfully pendantic (and long), as I made no assumptions about what people at the talk might know about Python. But that might be more useful to people in this group new to Python. So here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTiyFjMby9A The video projection was also strangely malfunctioning in a psychedelic way, cycling red to blue to green background. Maybe that makes is more interesting to watch. -- Sincerely, Chris Calloway, Applications Analyst UNC Renaissance Computing Institute 100 Europa Drive, Suite 540, Chapel Hill, NC 27517 (919) 599-3530 From fogleman at gmail.com Mon Dec 28 16:50:55 2015 From: fogleman at gmail.com (Michael Fogleman) Date: Mon, 28 Dec 2015 16:50:55 -0500 Subject: [TriPython] New Meetup Group: Triangle Open Source Open Mic Message-ID: Hello, Just wanted to send a quick note about a new meetup group that I and others have started. http://www.meetup.com/Triangle-Open-Source-Open-Mic/ Our meetups are always based on 5 - 10 minute lightning talks.
