</div>It has been suggested to me that it might be wise in light of some leaking information for me to provide TriPython with a update concerning my status.

I have been a patient at UNC hospital for the last three weeks where I have been receiving IV antibiotics for a particularly difficult case of peripheral cellulitis I somehow picked up at the SciPy Conference. It is highly likely that within the next two or three days I will be transferred to a rehab facility of currently unknown location in order to finish out my antibiotic regimen. Rehab is supposed to be a sign that I'm getting better, however slowly.

What I have learned throughout this ordeal is that I have forged bonds of friendship through TriPython that transcend any mere interest in a programming language. I have received a great deal of support while in the hospital including people taking care of my personal affairs on a day to day basis. And a considerable portion of that support has come through friends I first met at a TriPython event. In fact, the amount of support has been overwhelming whereby I haven't even been able to acknowledge all the offers of support. Please know that your kindnesses are appreciated even if appreciated silently.

I also want to take the opportunity to reassure TriPython that my personal challenges in no way affect the ongoing operation of TriPython activities. If you've ever heard me deny that I am the "leader" of TriPython when called such, you are seeing the proof of it now. TriPython is the result of many people who over many years have entered into a web of trust to each handle a specific responsibility without supervision. You might recognize it as a rather Pythonic form of self-organization if you've ever been a student of the history of the Python community. Project nights continue to go on. Meetings continue to go on. Things continue to go on. The only role I play in this grand scheme is one of town crier with meeting announcements and town fool at meetings. Even those activities you will see will continue to go on in what is hopefully my brief enough absence.

So that's all that needs to be said about that. Please return to your regularly scheduled program.

Cheers, Chris Calloway
