We have a group of people doing research in Open Source Software communities, and we are very interested in Python community. It is great that at this point we can download data as csv file from issue tracker. However, much information will be removed in this process. For example, the number of comments will appear in the csv file, but the content of each comment will not. This kind of information may be crucial for our research. So I'm wondering if there's a way to export more detailed data from the issue tracker. Then, on request by many users, it was changed to search for all issues instead, since people would often re-report an issue that was already closed. So I'm rejecting this request. If you find this completely unacceptable, one solution could be to make it a per-user option, possibly remembering the last choice. Your original request was to get more information than from CSV export, which I think is satisfied with the XML-RPC access, so I'm closing this issue as resolved. Notice that the Python bug tracker really is an installation of Roundup (roundup-tracker.org), so your question on export features are better asked there. I also recommend to start with regular questions on the mailing list, instead of submitting a bug report right away. In addition, I recommend to study the source code of Roundup, which is free software. Doing so will allow you to conclusively determine what features are available and which are not. There are differences between a regular Roundup installation and bugs.python.org; the code for the latter can be found at hg.python.org/tracker. As for the specific case of accessing the history: if you find out that it's currently not exportable (which I don't know - I would have to research myself), feel free to contribute a patch that allows such export. If the patch is not deemed acceptable for Roundup itself, we may still be able to incorporate it into our installation. ---------- nosy: +loewis status: chatting -> resolved _______________________________________________________ PSF Meta Tracker _______________________________________________________
