From metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za Sun Dec 7 09:02:41 2008 From: metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za (roundupbug) Date: Sun, 07 Dec 2008 08:02:41 +0000 Subject: [Tracker-discuss] [issue228] Inefficient display of ticket content, request for improvement proposals In-Reply-To: <1228636961.97.0.248408525634.issue228@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> Message-ID: <1228636961.97.0.248408525634.issue228@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> New submission from roundupbug : Why oh why is top-posting liked so much that the default for displaying issue content is reverse-chronological? It means that if you're looking at a new (to you) issue with history you have to scroll down to the bottom, read a bit (top-to-bottom like at least most western languages), skip a bit higher, read, skip higher, read, and so on. For someone who likes a speedy reading flow, this is truly aggravating. I daresay it promotes not reading the entire ticket thus ensuring high likelyhood of details being missed. What ways of mitigating that can you come up with? Note that the issue index comes with re-sorting options tacked at the bottom (why not the top?) but the content view does not. ---------- messages: 1124 nosy: roundupbug priority: bug status: unread title: Inefficient display of ticket content, request for improvement proposals _______________________________________________________ PSF Meta Tracker _______________________________________________________ From metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za Sun Dec 7 09:22:22 2008 From: metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za (Georg Brandl) Date: Sun, 07 Dec 2008 08:22:22 +0000 Subject: [Tracker-discuss] [issue228] Inefficient display of ticket content, request for improvement proposals In-Reply-To: <1228636961.97.0.248408525634.issue228@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> Message-ID: <1228638142.32.0.911825386543.issue228@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> Georg Brandl added the comment: How does this relate to the Python tracker? The same is not true for Jython tracker. Please see http://bugs.jython.org/issue1194. While I could test .diff on python tracker, I couldn't find a .py attachments to see if that is also treated as text. If it is, please do the same for jython tracker. Same should be the case for .patch, if not already so. ---------- assignedto: loewis messages: 1126 nosy: draghuram, loewis priority: feature status: unread title: Treat .diff and .py attachments as text _______________________________________________________ PSF Meta Tracker _______________________________________________________ From metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za Mon Dec 8 23:54:55 2008 From: metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za (=?utf-8?q?Martin_v._L=C3=B6wis?=) Date: Mon, 08 Dec 2008 22:54:55 +0000 Subject: [Tracker-discuss] [issue229] Treat .diff and .py attachments as text In-Reply-To: <1228759217.31.0.83524267668.issue229@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> Message-ID: <1228776895.56.0.861576412543.issue229@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> Martin v. This sets the content type for .diff/.patch/.py to text/plain, and also automatically sets the "patch" keyword for .diff/.patch. I've also run python-dev/scripts/set_text_plain, which does the same for all existing attachments. Please let me know if you need further such changes (e.g. making .java also text/plain). ---------- status: unread -> resolved _______________________________________________________ PSF Meta Tracker _______________________________________________________ From metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za Tue Dec 9 15:12:34 2008 From: metatracker at psf.upfronthosting.co.za (Raghuram Devarakonda) Date: Tue, 09 Dec 2008 14:12:34 +0000 Subject: [Tracker-discuss] [issue229] Treat .diff and .py attachments as text In-Reply-To: <1228776895.56.0.861576412543.issue229@psf.upfronthosting.co.za> Message-ID: <2c51ecee0812090612p23b926f6t96b6cfab4efbc583@mail.gmail.com> Raghuram Devarakonda added the comment: On Mon, Dec 8, 2008 at 5:54 PM, Martin v.
