[Tkinter-discuss] tkFileDialog halts the program while up. Any way around this?

When a tkFileDialog is open my program stops processing other events on 
Mac OS X. The program is a client that needs to regularly process data 
from a server, and it would be much better if it could keep processing 
that data.

Has anyone figured a way around this that still offers a 
platform-standard file dialog box?
