Geoff's day job is Professor (in the RTF department at UT Austin) and his speciality is animation, but he has graciously offered me some of his time for the project. If you are interested, we can do it. I will tell him you said hello, if you don't beat me to it. Incidentally, Geoff and I went to undergrad together and we play in a theme band called "The Karate Kids". Our band is playing tomorrow night at _Hole In the Wall_ in Austin, On Sun, Dec 12, 2010 at 12:01 AM, Kevin Horn wrote: > Holy blast-from-the-past Batman! > > I went to elementary school with Geoff Marslett! > > Amazing how small the world can be sometimes. > > Kevin > > On Sat, Dec 11, 2010 at 10:01 PM, David Duncan > wrote: >> >> On Fri, Dec 10, 2010 at 6:04 PM, Brad Allen >> wrote: >> > For 2010, we have the raw video but need a volunteer to do the editing >> > and publishing. >> > >> > For 2009, those videos were edited by Bill Chipman and even >> > compressed. Great; thanks for volunteering! I think at this point Ralph Green has all the relevant video files and should be able to get them to you. I've cc'd Ralph so you can contact him directly. I personally have found Python user groups helpful for learning, professional development, and general fun. Some user groups get off the ground using meetup.com; you might try searching for "python" on meetup.com to see if anyone else in your area has registered an interest. We also have a yearly event called PyTexas you might find worth the drive. We don't have a definite date locked in for 2011; it will most likely take place next August in Waco. For 2010 we had a great turnout with 94 attendees and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun. PyArkansas might also be driving distance for you, and of course PyCon in Atlanta next March would be a longer drive but well worth the time and travel cost. Any of these annual events will be a good way for you to meet other Python enthusiasts, increase your skills, and get ideas for how to organize a local user group.
