Does the fourth PC happen to be running 64-bit Outlook? If so, is it possible to replace it with 32-bit Outlook? I'm no PC expert, but that seems to be a recurring problem for Outlook users. Just upgraded laptops, and now have Outlook 2013. I installed SpamBayes, and the config seemed to go fine, and it rates new email fine as it comes in. But the SpamBayes toolbars get pushed off onto their own ribbon tab, and more importantly, clicking the "spam" and "not spam" buttons don't seem to do anything anymore, alas. Thanks! People have reported problems specifically with Outlook 64-bit. I am not a Windows person, but I think Outlook 32-bit might work on 64-bit Windows. Spam Bayes works better on 32 bit Outlook than on 64 bit Outlook. I have not investigated, but I think this is related to differences in code signing requirements between the 32 and 64 bit versions of applications. It might be solvable with an updated installer, but I think it might also mean purchasing some kind of digital certificate. I would be curious to hear if anyone knows more. -- Matt Johnson On Mon, Jul 29, 2013 at 7:12 AM, Skip Montanaro wrote: > (Please leave spambayes at python.org on your replies. I would like to use your spam program for research but I have little problem. I need to find out, which classsification tehnique SpamBayes use, but I didn't find any notes about that. In literature (http://digital.cs.usu.edu/~erbacher/publications/Bayes-Vikas2.pdf), I have found 4 significant tehniques that most of spam filters use: - all tokens filter: Use of all tokens from a new email for classification. - fixed number of tokens filter: Use of a fixed number of tokens for classification. These tokens are assumed to be the most effective in the given e-mail. - standard deviation threshold filter: This tehnique emphasizes the spam probability of tokens rather than the number of tokens. - relative number of tokens filter: Use of relative number of tokens for classification; for example 30%. Can you please tell me which tehnique SpamBayes use or is the closest to the tehnique that SpamBayes use, so that I will know how to start my research? And if it's impossible to somehow switch between these four tehniques. Thank you for your help! Yours sincerely, Matej -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
