[Spambayes] any *nix users on list?

Firstly - the (current) SpamBayes IMAP solution is a filter, not a proxy.
But, yes, you can run this wherever you like, as long as it can connect to
the IMAP server.

I don't really know :)  I guess it depends on how simple it is to get the
procmail setup going - if it's easy enough, then maybe you don't need
imapfilter.  All the imapfilter script does, really, is take care of getting
the contents of messages and then does the same thing as mboxtrain or
sb_filter (and various housekeeping, so that messages can be identified in
the future).
