Category: Outlook Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: duveneck (duveneck) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Outlook 2010 crashes w/ SpamBayes because of DEP Initial Comment: Outlook 2010 (beta) crashes while loading when SpamBayes is enabled, reporting a Data Execution Error. It then disables SpamBayes and opens normally without it. Adding OUTLOOK.EXE to the DEP exclusion list has no effect--it does not solve the problem (unlike in earlier versions of Outlook.) It appears there is no way to get SpamBayes to work with 2010. Because of this, I am also unable to test how SpamBayes' toolbars work with the new ribbon interface in 2010. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Reawen (reawen) Date: 2010-09-07 14:13 Message: Just adding a clarification, as I had this problem too and it took me a bit to figure it out. Jamie Hanrahan is correct (with danmcco's initial solution), but since it's apparent from later posts that not everyone understood, I thought I'd summarize: 1. In Outlook 2010, go to File -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings -> DEP Setting and uncheck enable DEP mode. 2. In Windows Explorer, go to OS Drive -> Program Files (x86) -> SpamBayes. Right click on SpamBayes folder and select Properties. You need to change the user's permissions to "Full Control" (or perhaps you just need a new subset of permissions, but I changed to full control). You can either change the whole Users group (select the group, click "edit" and choose "full control") or you can add the specific user needing privileges (click Advanced -> Change Permissions -> Add. Type the user name and select full control). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: mrzeno (mrzeno) Date: 2010-06-22 09:00 Message: Hi, sadly i rest with the same problem: Windows 7x64 Outlook 2010 final x86, Spambayas 1.1a6. DEP in Outlook unchecked; DEP in System configuration set to use exceptions and added outlook.exe (http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/faq.html#id68) as well as all exe in program files x86\spambayas\bin\*.exe (all applications in the list are checked). (Jamie Hanrahan) However the it still doesnt load ("There was an error initializing the Spambayas Addin"). When i first installed it, it worked. Reinstall didn't helpt though. Thanks you for any further hints! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mike Honey (mikehoney) Date: 2010-05-07 11:26 Message: I just tried the 1.1a6 release but can't get it working. Win 7 x32 and Outlook 2010 RTM. Outlook starts but reports an error: There was an error initializing the Spambayes addin. I turned off DEP mode in Outlook as per danmcco's post below. I looked into System DEP properties - it was already set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only". It looks like this is the lowest setting? I previously had Spambayes 1.0.4 working well on Outlook 2007. Then upgraded Outlook to 2010, uninstalled Spambayes 1.0.4 and installed Spambayes 1.1a6 Happy to be the crash-test dummy on this one - been using Spambayes for many many years and love it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Hammond (mhammond) Date: 2010-04-29 08:10 Message: The 1.1a6 release should have this fixed - please let me know if this isn't the case (and even if it is :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jamie Hanrahan () Date: 2010-04-29 05:27 Message: Correction! Category: Outlook Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Scott Hamilton (mcleopold) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: SpamBayes can't register correctly with Outlook 2010 Initial Comment: SpamBayes is listed as an inactive add-in and does not have a location. When attempting to add the add-in manual, the message "'C:\Program Files (x86)\SpamBayes\bin\outlook_addin.dll' is not a valid Office Add-in." appears. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: doe531 (doe531) Date: 2010-09-15 14:28 Message: I have the same problem with Outlook 2010 x32 and Win7 x64. "SpamBayes can not get registred". Changing DEP and access right for the SpamBayes folder did not work. Very sorry, we love SpamBayes too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Prateek M. () Date: 2010-08-27 17:28 Message: I am running Outlook 2010 (64-bit version) and I get this same issue. I assumed it was with Spambayes not being 64-bit compatible, so I manually compiled/linked this using Python 2.7 (64-bit) and the 64-bit version of the pywin32 for Python 2.7. This just made my Outlook crash every time I launched. We LOVE SpamBayes and would like support to be added for 64-bit version of Outlook 2010. Our mailboxes have gotten over 12GB and we need all the RAM usage we can get! We use Windows 7 x64 Professional ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Scott Hamilton (mcleopold) Date: 2010-07-29 18:03 Message: This is on a Windows 7 64bit machine running Outlook 2010 and binary 1.1a6. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=498103&aid=3036652&group_id=61702
