When I try to use spam bayes to delete messages in 2003 it just crashes. I've downloaded the most up to date spam bayes. My version of outlook is Version 11.8002.6568 SP2. Needless to say the outlook version of spam removal is rubbish & I'd really like to use spam bayes again. I have outlook 2003 on another computer & spam bayes works fine on this one. any idea's? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=498104&aid=1444209&group_id=61702 From noreply at sourceforge.net Mon Mar 13 19:44:07 2006 From: noreply at sourceforge.net (SourceForge.net) Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2006 10:44:07 -0800 Subject: [spambayes-bugs] [ spambayes-Support Requests-1449059 ] Configuring multiple POP3 accounts Message-ID: Support Requests item #1449059, was opened at 2006-03-13 12:44 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=498104&aid=1449059&group_id=61702 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. What you need to do is: 1. Tell SpamBayes to proxy these three servers. Put all three, "example.com,example2.com,example3.com", in the "remote servers" section of the SpamBayes configuration. 2. Tell SpamBayes to proxy these three servers on local ports - you can choose whatever ones you like (and aren't used by anything else on the local machine). For example, put "8110,8111,8112" in the "local ports" section of the SpamBayes configuration. 3. Tell Thunderbird that it needs to look at the local machine, on ports 8110, 8111, and 8112, for mail. There were early problems with non-English setups, but I thought that were all worked out some time ago. Have you tried 1.0.4? You could put the files somewhere else (the configuration guide explains how to do this) that doesn't have any extended characters in the path. Other than that, if this is the problem, then the only thing to do is open a bug report (http://sf.net/projects/spambayes) and wait for it to be fixed. =Tony.Meyer -- Please always include the list (spambayes at python.org) in your replies (reply-all), and please don't send me personal mail about SpamBayes. http://www.massey.ac.nz/~tameyer/writing/reply_all.html explains this. On the other hand if *I* select a message and click "Delete As Spam" I'd like the message to be moved to my deleted folder (ie: a human has already verified that it really is spam and it can safely be deleted completely, not moved to "spam"). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jim McMaster (mcmasjc) Date: 2006-03-28 09:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=683799 Is this feature still on the radar? It would be nice if "Delete As Spam" moved the message straight to deleted items. I do not blindly delete anything. I go through the "Possible Spam" folder, clicking "Delete As Spam" or "Recover From Spam" on each message, usually based on the subject. Then I go through the spam folder, deleting or (very rarely...spambayes is good) "Recover From Spam" again for each message, usually based on the subject. Finally, I empty the deleted items folder. With the current behavior, I have to look at each possible spam twice, once to click the "Delete As Spam" and again to move it to deleted items. I don't see why I should have to basically tell the system twice this thing is a spam. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Tony Meyer (anadelonbrin) Date: 2006-01-19 02:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=552329 I still don't see why this is a problem, given that you have to delete the messages (either manually or with something like autoarchive) in the spam folder anyway. I would not be happy with a patch that deleted the message - a big plus of the Outlook plug-in is that we can safely say that SpamBayes never deletes the user's mail. A patch that adds an option to have clicking the "Spam" button move a message to the Deleted Items folder would be acceptable, IMO. No work has been done on this, and developer time is pretty short at the moment (and more likely to be spent on other things, I expect). As such, if anyone wants to work up a patch and submit it here, that would be great. I have been using SpamBayes plugin for Outlook for about a month as I get up to 40 SPAM a day. I habitually check and clear my spam folder as I still get the odd false positive message. Messages that I remove from Suspects and (rarely) Inbox using 'Delete as Spam' are moved to my Spam folder where I then have to delete them again. I would like an option so that 'Delete as Spam' trains SB that it is spam and then deletes it. This delete could either move it to Deleted Items or permanently it - is this a secondary option? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Tony Meyer (anadelonbrin) Date: 2004-10-07 00:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=552329 It looks like from 1.1 the buttons will be called "Spam" and "Not Spam". However, I presume that you'd still like this functionality - and it would fit more nicely with that change, IMO. I suppose we could add a "move to Deleted Items" option where the "mark as read" options are. My main question is whether there is a need for this given that you are presumably clearing out (somehow) the spam folder anyway, does it matter if there are a few extra emails as well? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Soulin (soulin) Date: 2004-09-21 09:03 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1121435 I must agree, in fact I actually wanted to post same thread :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=498106&aid=973376&group_id=61702 From noreply at sourceforge.net Wed Mar 29 06:43:04 2006 From: noreply at sourceforge.net (SourceForge.net) Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2006 20:43:04 -0800 Subject: [spambayes-bugs] [ spambayes-Feature Requests-973376 ] Make "Delete as Spam" *really* Delete the email Message-ID: Feature Requests item #973376, was opened at 2004-06-16 04:50 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by anadelonbrin You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=498106&aid=973376&group_id=61702 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Outlook Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Lance (lancevictor) Assigned to: Tony Meyer (anadelonbrin) Summary: Make "Delete as Spam" *really* Delete the email Initial Comment: Proposed change in functionality: If SpamBayes automatically detects spam, it moves it to the Spam folder (where I can go to verify that it really was spam). On the other hand if *I* select a message and click "Delete As Spam" I'd like the message to be moved to my deleted folder (ie: a human has already verified that it really is spam and it can safely be deleted completely, not moved to "spam"). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Tony Meyer (anadelonbrin) Date: 2006-03-29 16:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=552329 My earlier comments still apply: No work has been done on this, and developer time is pretty short at the moment (and more likely to be spent on other things, I expect). As such, if anyone wants to work up a patch and submit it here, that would be great. If you have questions, feel free to ask here or spambayes-dev at python.org. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jim McMaster (mcmasjc) Date: 2006-03-29 04:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=683799 Is this feature still on the radar? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Tony Meyer (anadelonbrin) Date: 2006-01-19 22:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=552329 I still don't see why this is a problem, given that you have to delete the messages (either manually or with something like autoarchive) in the spam folder anyway. Category: Install Problem (example) Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Ron Walters (ronaldw152) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Works as admin but not as power user Initial Comment: I have installed spambayes on a workstation on my network. I have outlook 2003 and when I log on as the administrator it works and the plug in loads and everything is fine. When I log on as the user (power user) it won't load the plugin. What I mean is that it is installed on the machine and it won't show up in outlook. I followed the instructions in the FAQ to manually make it show up. I tried using the com add-in button in outlook and it does not show up. I have also tried runing the install again as a power user no luck there either. Please let me know what else I can try.
