Initial Comment:
When SpamBayes is enabled within Outlook, if I leave
Outlook open (automatically sending and receiving every
5 mins), then I receive all the mail that is still on
the server. Hence the longer I leave it open, the more
spurious copies appear in my inbox.

Obviously from what I'm describing, I have enabled the
"leave a copy on the server" setting in the advanced
options - I need this to keep a couple of family
computers' inboxes up to date.

I've tested this with no other Outlook Rules enabled,
on a fairly vanilla email setup, and the duplicates
still appear.

The only caveat to this behaviour is that the
duplicates do not appear if I manually Send/Receive...
