It's already been reported, here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=544274

I was wrong about being a segfault, it simply hangs with a
*** glibc detected *** message. It happens with Python 2.5 and
2.6, and Numpy 1.3.0. I have not checked other versions.
