Just tried to compile SciPy on a RedHat Enterprise 5 system, following
the instructions on http://pong.tamu.edu/tiki/tiki-view_blog_post.php?blogId=6&postId=97

and got the errors below:

error: Command "/usr/bin/g77 -g -Wall -g -Wall -shared build/
temp.linux-x86_64-2.5/build/src.linux-x86_64-2.5/build/src.linux-
x86_64-2.5/scipy/lib/blas/fblasmodule.o build/temp.linux-x86_64-2.5/
build/src.linux-x86_64-2.5/fortranobject.o build/temp.linux-x86_64-2.5/
build/src.linux-x86_64-2.5/scipy/lib/blas/fblaswrap.o build/temp.linux-
x86_64-2.5/build/src.linux-x86_64-2.5/build/src.linux-x86_64-2.5/scipy/
lib/blas/fblas-f2pywrappers.o -L/usr/local/lib -Lbuild/temp.linux-
x86_64-2.5 -lfblas -lg2c -o build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.5/scipy/lib/blas/
fblas.so" failed with exit status 1

NOTE: I did not build numpy myself - I used easy_install for that.
I'm trying to determine the path of least resistance for building a
fully functional numpy/scipy suite, and since numpy seems to install
just fine from PyPI, I went with that.

Any tips?
