Hello all,

As you should have noticed by now, the submissions are all live and we are
having a few come in. We have our current deadline as March 14. Please
make sure your colleagues in different groups know about the deadlines and
are able to submit.

FWIW, Tutorials and BoFs might actively campaign a few high profile folks
to come lead things. In the past I've found that if you really want that
awesome session, extending an invitation to a few noticeable community
members. (I would totally be up for campaigning @dabeaz to give a tutorial
on compilers and python!)

Another bit of news, the WSSSPE community will be hosting an event at the
conference. Probably Thursday afternoon. This is an important milestone
for SciPy as it will be a significant out reach to the NSF. Two years ago
we had an open session on how to get money to sustain our software projects
and now we have an NSF officer coming to promote that very thing! FWIW
this hasn't been widely announced yet, but I expect it to go out today.

Finally, we have a few returning sponsors this year but have had less up
take than previous years. Please send Brett and me any contacts at
companies that should be on our list. I hate to point this out, but no
money means no BBQ (and I'm pretty sure Jonathan go French Revolution style
and make heads roll =P).
