Absolutely not! Having new ideas is good, even if they are bad. What you
have done is the way it is supposed to be: you had an idea, wrote some
example code, and proposed it. It turned out it wasn't a good idea, but
there was a nice discussion coming out of it. Ideas are good (but the line
is drawn at including curly braces, see "from __future__ import braces")

If you want to collaborate and have the time for it, maybe you can continue
with the work Pauli mentioned.
