[SciPy-Dev] "Automatically adapted for scipy..."

At or close to the top of many of the python files in scipy is a comment 
that says something like

## Automatically adapted for scipy Oct 18, 2005 by

or

## Automatically adapted for scipy Oct 07, 2005 by convertcode.py

Are these comments still meaningful?  Is there any harm in removing them?
