Yes, because mac os X fs is not case sensitive. Because of this, it is a
good idea *not* to mix case at all in filenames (using lower-case all
the time would be best, but a lot of fortran code use upper case filenames).

No, gfortran and g77 behave the same. This is just platform oddities
with the fs here.
