[SciPy-dev] Can we make scipy.org redirect to new.scipy.org/Wiki

Yes! I hope many of us want to see the wiki become the site you get when
you go to http://scipy.org and http://www.scipy.org

There are a couple things that have to be done, however. We can do item 1,
but I think Enthought has to do items 2 and 3. We should get working on
item 1 and when we think we're ready, bug Enthought about the rest.

1. We need to make sure we've got all useful content off the old site.
Even if we keep the old site online somewhere for archival purposes (a
good idea, IMO), I think we want the new site to have this information
before making it the default site. I suggest that as part of the new site,
we add a section about running 'old' scipy, too. Not everyone is going to
upgrade immediately, and it would be good to keep them feeling happy with
the community. (I personally haven't been running old scipy recently, so I
can't even begin to write this section...)

2. Move from a Python-process-per-click CGI method to a persistent process
method. This will decrease latencies and the load on the server.

3. Update the Apache configuration to point to the new wiki.

But, yes, I think this is a great idea and why I've worked so hard on the
new wiki.

Cheers!
Andrew
