IPython has no numeric/numarray dependencies, so for now I'd say just leave it 
where it is.  It's already distributed from the main scipy.org site 
(http://ipython.scipy.org), and I package both sources and fedora RPMs. Others 
provide Debian and Fink packaging.  You are going to have enough to worry 
about with scipy proper, so I'd suggest you leave the ipython problems to me :)
