Yes, metapost is very cool.  Definitely a nice thing to play with, but 
not particularly within scipy's scope as I understand it.  It does let 
one "program in graphics" in a much more fun environment than 
Postscript. Something I'd use in a programming class to teach the 
smart-alecks something. =)
