[SciPy-dev] Chaco for drawing cross platform widgets?

Chaco presently targets other widget toolkits and focuses on plotting.
Has any consideration been given to using Chaco itself to create a
cross-platform widget toolkit? Or is that not feasible? I'm not asking
"are you going to do it" but rather "does anything in the design of
Chaco prevent it from being done by someone else."

Tor (part of the Fitz team) is interested in using a DisplayPDF like
system to create a fully anti-aliased widget toolkit with alternative
