[Pythonmac-SIG] Launch application

Hi all,
In my efforts to port Biopython to the mac I still cannot make blast work.
On unix machine they use popen2 to launch blast and give it some arguments.
How can this be done on the Mac?
Blast for mac is a graphical window with fields you need to fill. How can I
script this from python. Not only do I need to launch the application but
also to give it some arguments.
Any ideas?
