We have our August meetup scheduled for Tuesday 18th August and would love some more talks - either regular (15 mins approx) or lightning sized (5 mins approx). If you're free and would like to talk on a Django-related subject, please drop me a line. The meetup event page is here: http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Django-Meetup-Group/events/223938679/ Thanks, James -- James Cooke Backend software developer: http://careers.stackoverflow.com/jamescooke Website: http://jamescooke.info/ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... PyCon UK Programme Published Message-ID: <55C0AD3A.3030401@ntoll.org> Hi Folks, Just a quick heads up! We have a provisional conference schedule. You can see it here: http://www.pyconuk.org/schedule/ The usual caveats about it being almost complete and things may change if speakers drop out etc... apply. But, in essence, what you see at that URL is the shape and structure of the conference. We're still looking for poster sessions (you should totally do one, it's fun and completely stress free) and "lunchtime events". Find out more details here: http://www.pyconuk.org/programme/ Spread the word, go buy tickets, tell your friends, forward the link. See you in September. Nicholas. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Could it be you..? Message-ID: <55DC2151.704@ntoll.org> Hi Pythoneers! PyCon UK 2015 is almost upon us and we're already thinking about next year. The most fundamental aspect of this is who will be responsible. To this end, every year at the PyCon UK AGM we vote in a new conference committee. The constitution states that, "The Committee shall be composed of a minimum of four persons and a maximum of ten persons." The following roles must be filled: * Chair - responsible for the smooth running of the PyCon UK society and the fulfilment of its aim: to run a Python conference in the UK. * Vice-Chair - deputises for the Chair: assumes the Chair's role if they become unavailable. * Treasurer - keeps track of financial matters and is responsible for making an annual financial report to the AGM. * Secretary - keeps track of the meetings, ensures minutes are made and people are generally aware of the machinations of the society. Other members of the organising committee have no specific roles or responsibilities but will be called upon to help, advise and act depending upon their expertise. If you would like to be part of this wonderful endeavour please feel free to put forward your name and, if appropriate, an indication of the role you'd be interested in fulfilling (Chair, Vice-Chair etc...). To do this email: pyconuk-adm at python.org. As John Pinner stated, "PyCon UK is organised by the community, of the community and for the community". Someone has to do it, why not you? Best wishes, Nicholas. (On behalf of the PyCon UK Organising Committee.) -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... We normally stop about 9.30pm, and go on to the pub. Ben suggested that Alex Bradbury from the University Computer Lab should come along to the meeting with some of his interns who have been working on various projects, including Project Pyland (https://github.com/pyland/pyland), and tell us about what they're doing. I hope this will happen - it should be very interesting. Meetings after that will be: ? Tuesday 6th October ? Tuesday 3rd November ? Tuesday 1st December I shall be at EuroSciPy (which is in Cambridge for the second time) on Friday and Saturday, 28th and 29th August. Also, remember that PyConUK 2015 is Friday 18th - Monday 21st September 2015, in Coventry (as usual). Details are at http://www.pyconuk.org/.
