The idea behind is to bootstrap and help organize a dynamic FOSS community in Africa linked to the other communities, and instigate fast and sustainable learning among the new generation. The original plan is get sponsoring to send a volunteer trainer (or a couple of trainers) to each town in Africa where we have demand. Since, the project is at preparation stage, contribution in the form of ideas and return on experience is welcome. If you want to participate as a volunteer, local facilitator, or sponsor, check out the project page on OpenPlans.org, join or contact me. http://www.openplans.org/projects/python-african-tour Best regards, Kamon AYEVA _______________________________________________ NGO mailing list NGO at lists.plone.org http://lists.plone.org/mailman/listinfo/ngo From ms at cerenity.org Sun Mar 16 02:00:30 2008 From: ms at cerenity.org (Michael) Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2008 01:00:30 +0000 Subject: [python-uk] Multicore Kamaelia Message-ID: <200803160100.30478.ms@cerenity.org> Hi! I've added some experimental multicore work in Kamaelia's /Sketches area today. It allows you to take the following code: Pipeline( Textbox(position=(20, 340), text_height=36, screen_width=900, screen_height=400, background_color=(130,0,70), text_color=(255,255,255)), TextDisplayer(position=(20, 90), text_height=36, screen_width=400, screen_height=540, background_color=(130,0,70), text_color=(255,255,255)) ) ... and make it run multicore as follows: ProcessPipeline( Textbox(position=(20, 340), text_height=36, screen_width=900, screen_height=400, background_color=(130,0,70), text_color=(255,255,255)), TextDisplayer(position=(20, 90), text_height=36, screen_width=400, screen_height=540, background_color=(130,0,70), text_color=(255,255,255)) ) The "proof" that this works multicore is the fact these are both pygame components and hence would not open two windows unless it was multi-process. I've written up more about this here: http://yeoldeclue.com/cgi-bin/blog/blog.cgi?rm=viewpost&nodeid=1205626569 To work this uses Paul Boddie's pprocess module, LikeFile written by a GSOC student last year, and the components above were also from GSOC. Code in subversion is here for the curious: https://kamaelia.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/kamaelia/trunk/Sketches/MPS/pprocess/MultiPipeline.py This wouldn't've been as easy to write without using Paul's really nice code, so I'll just embarass him and say thank you for that here :-) Michael From rakesh.thakrar at microcom-recruitment.com Mon Mar 31 12:05:44 2008 From: rakesh.thakrar at microcom-recruitment.com (Rakesh Thakrar) Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 11:05:44 +0100 Subject: [python-uk] Software Developers Wanted Message-ID: Bright Red-Brick graduates wanted - 31.5k starting salary + Excellent Benefits, Healthcare, Pension, Insurance. I know Rakesh and can vouch that he's a genuine Python recruiter, and I'd be surprised if this job weren't Python related. John
