Hello everyone,
I felt it was really needful to hint you all about the event we had in Ogbomoso last weekend. Before I say anything, I want to give a big shout out to Aisha Bello, Oga Chuks, Hamdalah, Lekan Wahab, Mercy, Eyitemi, Ayo and a host of other coaches that travelled all the way down just so the event could be a success. You are so awesome and I really thank you for helping out. Django girls Ogbomoso would not have been successful without you.?
So, we had about 25 girls in attendance and according to one of them, "the event was really interesting and was worth the sacrifice of travelling all the way from Niger state."
Also, we are planning to start a meet up with the girls next semester to help us all become experts in coding.
Coming up next is DjangogirlsFUTA, DjangogirlsOAU and DjangogirlsOTTA and we need your support please.?

Hello everyone!?? I believe we all are doing great. First off, I'd like to thank you all for supporting Django girls Ogbomoso event so far. Thanks to all of those who volunteered to coach the girls; you really are awesome.?So far, we have 30 girls and about 7 coaches on ground. We are planning to have three girls to one coach, which is where I am really pleading for your help. The point is, we need more coaches.
?I understand that the economy is not friendly presently and many of us might dread the idea of travelling all the way down to Ogbomoso, but we can only beg you to please do it for the girls who will never forget you for teaching them what might pave a great way for their success in life eventually. Who knows whether you will be coaching the Sheryl Sandberg of Nigeria at this event ;)?The bottom line of this story is that we need three more coaches. Please if you will be available on the 6th and 7th of May (next weekend) kindly help us to coach these girls and we promise to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much

Forgive my attempt to catch your attention :)

Helen: I had so much fun at DjangoGirls Ogbomoso. Mentoring the girls was
rewarding enough and totally worth the journey all the way to Ogbomoso. You
and your team did a marvelous job of organizing, and we (the community) are
so proud of you.

Without further ado and in a bid to not bore you with long emails, this
mid-week. There's been a lot of conversation on slack about registering
PyNigeria as a not-for-profit company (A very mandatory need if our vision
is to get to the stage of a PyCon and many other community feats).
One of the major criteria for this to happen is that we need 3 board
members(Chair, Treasurer and Secretary) There has been quite a number of
nominations on the slack channel and @ichux AND @acetakwas are working on a
cool way to vote using bots on slack.

I am writing just incase some of us might not be on slack. So please
nominate at least one person each for the 3 positions, if you haven't
already you just might get nominated instead. The nomination end Saturday
12 noon and voting would hold on Sunday the 15th. Although results would be
in real time, but it would be published on Monday.

Please note that to vote you need to be on Python Nigeria slack channel.
And if you aren't please drop your email here and you would be added on
slack asap.

Another interesting news is PSF directors vote is coming soon and our dear
Naomi Ceder (PSF board member) is running for the post of director. So do
make your vote count in the global python space ;).

Dear All,

Django Girls Ogbomosho was cool and exciting. The management of the school,
from the HOD to others made sure that we had light and Internet throughout
the duration of the event. And we do send them our warmest love while
thanking them for every help they rendered.

LAUTECH, Ogbomosho, is a cool place, I must confess. The ICT centre is well
equipped and I am impressed. While we look forward to other Django Girls
events that are upcoming, we would like to thank those that have completed
their successfully.

@Helen, please extend our greetings to the team that you also worked with,
it was nice knowing them all. You and your team were there all through to
make sure that we had everything we needed.

I hail thee. So after taken into consideration all the nominations
suggested. We need to put this to a vote. This is important because we are
registering PyNigeria as a recognised not for profit in Nigeria. So I beg

Hello wonderful Pythonistas,

This is a warm appeal that we all need you to participate in the votes. We
need the votes to at least account for a majority of our community
population. currently only about 30 people have voted, and according to
statistics we are now about a 100 on slack and a little over 80 on the
mailing list. Thats' not even up to 50% of our population.

This is one of those times where we all need to pull our weights and make
this happen. By voting, we not only facilitate the process of registering
our name pynigeria. We also put ourselves on a pedestal to achieve even far
greater things. There are quite a number of things lined up and we have to
do it one step at a time. Oh did i mention that being a registered body is
paramount to sealing our relationship with the Carrington Youth Fellowship
initiative as a partner.......This would be the same case for our future
goals like a PyCon e.t.c.

To this end voting has been extended by an extra day and would end Sunday
22nd 11:59pm.

Dear Highly esteemed Pyladies and PyMen,

It's been a while. Forgive my radio silence, the week has been very
eventful. There are a number of things to talk about but I promise to make
this short *covers face*

Firstly. Thanks to everyone for taking time out to vote in the last
election for board members. I am particularly honored and grateful that you
would vote me in as chair. Be that as it may for the better part towards
the end of the year I would be out on a training and I won't be physically
on ground to help facilitate all the amazing things we have planned. To
this end I trust Ichux (who is ever so diligent, commited and there for us
in real time) will do an amazing job as Chair, and I will continue to
support as an adhoc vice chair :D
But I will always be virtually around.

Our PyNigeria Constitution and curriculum has been worked on by the team.
Tosin (a.k.a Secretary) would be posting links to our Github page. If
everyone would go through the constitution and the curriculum draft for the
girls and make their own inputs/ P.R that would be really cool. We are all
still a team and we would really appreciate your contributions.

Now that we have all voted we need to move to the next item on the Agenda.
We need NGN 120,000 to enable us register our name. To this end a warm
appeal to everyone to donate to this cause for the community. Like I
mentioned earlier community projects like the CYFI partnership, A PyCon,
future projects e.t.c would latch on the advantage of legally registering
our organization in Nigeria.
If 40(half) of us contributed 3k each we would reach our goal in no time.
That said, nothing is too small, and we welcome and appreciate all
donations regardless of the value. Hamdalah (Treasurer) would be sharing
the account details we would be contributing to in a bit.

Finally, part of the community plan would be to set up a website, We have
graciously gotten our own python.org email pynigeria at python.org

anything to say to the board members feel free to drop us a line.

It's PyCON US week guys. Shout out to Pythonistas representing us at PyCon
this year *shines teeth*

Lending my voice to DjangoGirls FUTA who is still soliciting for coaches. I
personally would be there wearing my coaches hat, and if you can make it
please do come out to coach. There is something so beautiful and rewarding
in teaching others an amazing skill like learning how to code in Python.

oops I did it again. *still shinning teeth*
