Built-in exception class not found

I compiled Python 1.5.2 statically with CBuilder 5.0.
When I start my python program I get the error message:
Built-in exception class not found: EnvironmentError. Library mismatch?
Warning! Falling back to string-based exceptions
Why?
I've only installed 1.5.2. I've configured the PYTHONPATH to the
Pythonlibs.
When the program starts, it finds the exceptions.pyc.
Any suggestions?
