I suspect that using the pen for this purpose might risk bugs going from
earfulls of ink all the way to punctured eardrums.  The language might be
less effective for this purpose, but less risky as well.

If you want the number displayed on that monitor to be persistent, using a
programming language may be inferior to using a pen (with the right sort
of ink, to be sure; not one basically meant to be used on paper).

The use of the flatscreen monitor for aural hygiene purposes might also be
considered (but should, IMHO, be firmly rejected after due consideration).
