Pardon, but how could BSD possibly be less generous than GPL?  The GPL
disallows a lot of distribution methods; the BSD license disallows none.

Does the GPL allow something that the BSD doesn't?  My reading doesn't
seem to indicate that...

Hmm, it seems to me that a pure-BSD licenced product could be released
unchanged under the GPL.  The reverse is certainly not true.

My preference: either the LGPL or some variant of the BSD license.
