PYTHON IS CRAP

There is a module which does exactly this, looking up function
definitions in the library reference. It is not perfect, but
definitely better than searching in many man pages.

Look at 
http://lisboa.ifm.uni-kiel.de:80080/NumPy

for docindex.py.

Paul Prescod is also working on something like this. And it will
become better, if the documentation is transformed to XML/SGML.
