Python 2.0, beta1, next week?

Sorry.  The release schedule slipped by a week and I have not updated
the PEP to reflect that yet.  Will do so ASAP.

The new release date is Sept. 5 and that date is firm.  The list of
open patches and action items has been shrinking steadily over the
last few days.
