That's exactly what I did. But it is only of limited use, if other
people cannot see what patches I am working on.

As far as I know (I never used the combination myself), mercurial and
bzr are able to use git as a backend and git is not able to use
mercurial or bzr as a backend. Not to exclude git as a frontend, I
recommend git as a backend.
