From loek at onepercentclub.com Tue Jan 5 03:57:59 2016 From: loek at onepercentclub.com (Loek van Gent 1%CLUB) Date: Tue, 5 Jan 2016 09:57:59 +0100 Subject: [Python-ke] So, who are you? Welcome to all Kenyan Pythonists Message-ID: Hi all, First of all: Happy new year! Maybe we can start this mailing list with a quick round where everyone can introduce themselves. How are you using Python at the moment, what do you hope for the future? I'll kick off. My name is Loek van Gent. I'm not a Kenyan, nor living in Kenya, but still interested in what's happening over there ;-). I work in Amsterdam, the Netherlands at 1%Club (https://onepercentclub.com). We've had multiple projects and campaigns in Kenya and we are closely affiliated with Nailab. We use Python/Django for our server side projects. Our front-end runs in EmberJS. Over the last couple of years I talked to multiple Python developers in Kenya. Many of them were the only Python developer in their company or in a small team. I've been deeply involved in de Django community in Europe, joining many DjangoCon's and even talking at the last one in Cardiff. I'm also involved in Python Namibia and will fly there again the end of this year. I also contributed some small pull requests to Django core. I feel the Python/Django community in Europe is very strong and welcoming. I learned so much from fellow coders during meetups, conferences or just in irc chat rooms. I would love to help spread this community to Kenya too! Kind regards, Loek -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
