[Python-Dev] State of json in 2.7

It looks like simplejson 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 have been released:

It looks like any changes that didn't come from the Python tree didn't
go into the Python tree, either.

I guess we can't put these changes into 2.7 anymore? How can we make
this better next time?
