The following example comes from IRC user ztane:

> main_thread = threading.current_thread()
>
> def foo():
> time.sleep(10)
> print(main_thread.is_alive())
> print(list(threading.enumerate()))
>
> t = threading.Thread(target=foo)
> t.start()
False
