[issue17846] Building Python on Windows - Supplementary info

Terry J. Reedy report at bugs.python.org
Tue Oct 28 07:37:43 CET 2014

Terry J. Reedy added the comment:

Because the name 'tcltk' is unversioned and contents rebuilt for each compile, isolated build directories of the sort diagrammed in msg214138 are required if one want to build and run both 2.7, which requires tcl8.5, and 3.4+, which require tcl8.6. Since other dependency subdir names include the version, multiple versions can live in the same dir.
