This is correct syntax in C. But I agree that for clarity it should be changed.

However note that building Python with g++ is not supported. There are many other things about which C compiler is lenient but which cause syntax error in C++ compiler. And resulting binary, if you will built it, will be binary incompatible with Python binary compiled with C compiler.
