Summary: email.Utils.msgid()
Initial Comment:
It seems the Python library does not
include a general method for creating an
rfc2822 compliant Message-ID string.
This would be useful for e-mail applications
that need to generate their own Message-IDs.
If you are interested in adding this method,
I can include a patch against Utils.py from the
email module. I've already implemented
this functionality in Python for one of my
applications. It produces Message-ID strings
that look like:
<20020104184922.4077.30184.tmda@ns.mastaler.com>
date + random integer + process id + a string @ FQDN
Let me know if you are interested, and also preference
on the name of the method (you may prefer something
other than msgid()).
