I went back in the buildbot history and tested some of the older nightlies.  It 
looks like this sample code works on 64bit JIT through pypy-c-jit-40310-
5ea1e45c5e6e-linux64.  However, it no longer works with pypy-c-jit-40355-
e5828b4d7360-linux64.  Looking at the hg history it seems this might be related 
to the JIT loop unrolling, which was merged on Jan 3 2011.
