By events, do you mean training events, or other Python events? I think there's an additional events procedure where things can appear on a calendar, but the training events page is just direct edit. Right now, for instance, searching for "packt" in AdvancedBooks shows 249 results; each one has two links, and searching the raw page for "[[" (to find all the links) shows 517 results. I haven't done a full check, but these figures make it look like there might be circa two dozen non-Packt entries on that page, and ten times that number of Packt entries. Somewhat snarky aside, the Packt books I've looked at - probably a half-dozen or so (which given the numbers you cite isn't a very representative sample size) - are pretty "average", descending even to "poor" - but there's no rule against low quality books either. Yeah, that seems like a good option. > Somewhat snarky aside, the Packt books I've looked at - probably a > half-dozen or so (which given the numbers you cite isn't a very > representative sample size) - are pretty "average", descending even to > "poor" - but there's no rule against low quality books either. Agreed. They're not the greatest, but that's not inherently a problem. People can figure out for themselves what's good. Thoughts? I think we ought to move all Packt book entries to a separate sub-page, e.g. AdvancedBooks/Packt, and point there from the main page. The wiki is not meant to be a SEO resource and dumping their entire Python book catalog into the wiki not fulfilling the purpose of the pages we have. Given the number of books, it may even be better to simply put a single link to their catalog on the page, rather than list every single book. -- Marc-Andre Lemburg eGenix.com Professional Python Services directly from the Experts (#1, Apr 18 2022) >>> Python Projects, Coaching and Support ... https://www.egenix.com/ >>> Python Product Development ... https://consulting.egenix.com/ ________________________________________________________________________ ::: We implement business ideas - efficiently in both time and costs ::: eGenix.com Software, Skills and Services GmbH Pastor-Loeh-Str.48 D-40764 Langenfeld, Germany. Perhaps we could have a section on the https://wiki.python.org/moin/AdvancedBooks page which points to publisher websites with Python books, followed by individual listings and also note that if a publisher has more than e.g. 10 books on offer, we won't include individual listings anymore, but instead point to the publisher's website. -- Marc-Andre Lemburg eGenix.com Professional Python Services directly from the Experts (#1, Apr 26 2022) >>> Python Projects, Coaching and Support ... https://www.egenix.com/ >>> Python Product Development ... https://consulting.egenix.com/ ________________________________________________________________________ ::: We implement business ideas - efficiently in both time and costs ::: eGenix.com Software, Skills and Services GmbH Pastor-Loeh-Str.48 D-40764 Langenfeld, Germany.
