I mainly use Python for web development (django and flask). Lately, i'm discovering game development. Im searching for some good game libraries, or something like a Python Game Engine. There aren't a lot of result, since Python isn't commonly used in game development. Usually game engine programming language are C, C++, C#. But i hope in the future will exists a Python Game Engine. However i founded Harfang 3D. Yesterday I sent an email to hep at python.org, they said me, that if i want to edit wiki, i have to contact you. This is the email text: Hi. On your website, in python game section ( https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonGames), you forgot to mention Harfang 3D library (https://www.harfang3d.com/). A game developed with that library is DogFight (https://github.com/harfang3d/game-dogfight). I want to say that i just discovered that library. I searched on youtube "python game engine", and i found it. It is not very famous because few people know about it, but it looks like a great library. It allows the development of games (logic, sounds, movements, graphics, etc). I would like to learn it, but there are not many tutorials (on youtube, stackoverflow, etc), if you add it to the list ( https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonGames), maybe more people will use it and talk about it more (and there will be more tutorials). So, i think it will be a nice idea to add Harfang 3D in the wiki. Also because, as said in the email, it is not well known, and it till now documentation is poor. And im asking you if i can edit python wiki. *What do you think?* Thank you, Riccardo -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Assuming choosing k at random uniformly, this is O(N/2) = O(N). During the discussion I referred to the Python Wiki page https://wiki.python.org/moin/TimeComplexity and the information there is kind of misleading. It introduces k as the "value of the parameter", and also states that "The Average Case assumes parameters generated uniformly at random" It then shows in the table that average and amortized worst time complexity of popping intermediate elements from a list is O(k). From my understanding the statement "The Average Case assumes parameters generated uniformly at random" is essentially what I stated above, so the value in the table should *not* depend (only) on k, but on N, and it should thus be O(N) in both cases. I think stating O(k) is misleading, since it looks like the complexity depends only on k, and thus popping the first element should be O(1), while in reality it depends on N as well (being N-k), and in the "average case" we get O(N) as shown above. In general it could be helpful to add a footnote explanation of how pop behaves, since it depends both on the size of N and k, and it certainly is not proportional to k, quite the contrary. If you are willing to give me edit permissions for that page I can help with some suggestions (I hope that page has a "Discussion" subpage to "stage" some proposed changes first). kind regards, Christoph Terasa From mal at python.org Mon Aug 17 03:42:45 2020 From: mal at python.org (M.-A. I say "odd" because the author asked about my 2018 story. And indeed, that URL says "October 2018". But we wrote that back in 2003, which you can see at https://legacy.python.org/about/success/astra/ . In 2018, none of the authors were affiliated with the organizations listed there. And most of the C-Lab middle layer had been rewritten in Java because of political reasons. Thus, that posting tells a misleading story. The success stories page doesn't list contact information. I hope you are able to direct this to the person who can change the date, if it is not you. If the date cannot be changed, I would rather that the success story be withdrawn.
