However, despite being in edition 3 already, I found the book being of questionable quality, and not really good learning materials for anyone. If you're not familiar with this book, just go to http://learnpythonthehardway.org/book/ex0.html and read the text around mentions of "Python 3" on the page to sample the author's tone throughout the book. We at Stack Overflow Python chat compiled a non-exhaustive list of complaints after a short glimpse; the complaints list is available at http://sopython.com/wiki/LPTHW_Complaints . We have also noticed that out of all books available there, the LPTHW raises most questions on Stack Overflow, and confuses newcomers. Yet, one reason why it is popular among the newcomers is that it is mentioned in the official Python Wiki as being a good resource for non-programmers. Actually I'd want the whole mention be removed, but I do not have wiki editing rights. If you can give us your wiki account name, we can make you an editor. Regarding the book, you are making some good points. I would always recommend "Learning Python" by Mark Lutz to newbies. I wonder why that book is not listed. These database wiki pages are about Python interfaces to databases, not about ODBC drivers which some of those Python interfaces use to talk to the database as client interface. Accordingly, I don't think the wiki page is the right place to advertise your ODBC driver. pyodbc as interface to your driver is already listed. > -------------------------------------------------- > From: "M.-A. All basic functions are working. Tested on Python 2.7 (mxODBC 3.3.1). Can you please mention my SQL Server ODBC driver (https://www.devart.com/odbc/sqlserver/) in mxODBC description https://wiki.python.org/moin/SQL%20Server as it was did with Microsoft ODBC driver? I tried to login with another created account and through launchpad but constantly begin to receive error with OpenID, like this one: "OpenID error: Nonce already used or out of range." or this one "OpenID discovery failure, not a valid OpenID." There's a link down the bottom of the page, but honestly, I don't know anything about the technical difficulty of doing what you suggest. M-A might be better placed to answer that question. Because that would leave us with a custom installation, I'm rather reluctant to apply such patches. We are already running an OpenID plugin which is unmaintained and has lost 2/3 of its functionality because of this: Google no longer does OpenID and myOpenID has gone out of business, leaving only Launchpad as OpenID provider. All that said, if you know a way to do this without hacking the moin code (theme changes are fine), please let me know. > In any case, you shouldn't have to worry about it from now on.
