Message-ID: Hey folks! Less than a month before PyCon and we still need a lot of volunteer help! I'm going to start sharing different areas where we need help on social media daily, but could use a signal boost (retweet, reshare, etc)! Also if anyone feels inspired to tweet themselves it would be great, I don't have a huge social media reach so it'd probably go further! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PJJtcLnS9KwjzgCg0TYdFo-nP2DwWcFP8G7M8i4LqV0/edit?ts=5ab41a84#gid=5 is the summary page -- we really need folks to help with swag handout, sessions, and registration right now. Message-ID: Hey folks, Just checking in about the green room volunteers this year -- is http://bit.ly/PyCon2018-Volunteer-GreenRoom still an accurate count of how many you'll need? Can we put any more useful info on https://us.pycon.org/2018/about/volunteers/#green_room to get people excited about it? I'm just trying to get a handle on current priority to recruit more volunteers for each area, and since green room typically requires fewer but more involved / experienced staff, I wanted to check in to see what we could do. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hi Rami, Added our newest co-chair Markus to this thread as well. Markus- Rami is the overall volunteer coordinator. In past years we've had 3 slots work out nicely for us, with the caveat that generally coverage for the third slot can be spotty and that's ok. This year since we have 3 co-chairs we should be fine even if we can't fill column 3. Green room description could read: Green room staff help the Session Staff Chairs coordinate keeping the talks > on schedule. > They check in volunteers & speakers, keep an eye on the clock, use a > walkie-talkie, and reassure speakers before their talk. One other note while you're changing the page/spreadsheet - could you change the description for the Session runner job to: A Session Runner accompanies the speaker from the Speakers Lounge to the > appropriate stage. They help in any way needed to make the session run > smoothly. No running required. I noticed that we have a lot more session chairs than runners so I am hoping a more accesible description could help with that. Message-ID: <0968dea4-db08-ff4e-2760-c5a80d97b4f4@gmail.com> Hey folks, We had a pretty good weekend for volunteer sign-ups and are well over half way to being fully staffed! As we're getting pretty close to PyCon I'd like to ask folks to please send out a social media post this week focusing on one or two of the places we need help the most: - Session Staff -- https://us.pycon.org/2018/schedule/sessions/ (we have a lot more chairs than runners, and several sessions totally unstaffed) - Green Room -- bit.ly/PyCon2018-Volunteer-Green-Room (the first half of Friday and early Saturday especially) - Registration -- bit.ly/PyCon2018-Volunteer-Reg (Thursday & Friday afternoons, particularly) - Swag Handout -- bit.ly/PyCon2018-Volunteer-Swag-Handout (the Friday morning rush still needs a lot of help) - Young Coders -- bit.ly/PyCon2018-Volunteer-YC (just a couple more volunteers) I have been posting about this, so please do RT / reshare (https://twitter.com/necaris/status/990980527543980034), but I don't have great reach on social media so definitely need the help! Thank you! Rami
