He said pycon.org won't be technically possible this year due to the way the root domain is setup. So we'll settle on us.pycon.org/os unless I happen upon something even shorter before March 15 (the domain pycon.space is available for example, though that may be a bit excessive/confusing). Also Ernest gets exactly what we need and will be building something custom that does the bare minimum (which is really all we need for this). I'm excited about trying this out this year. :) On Fri, Mar 1, 2019 6:41 PM, Anna Ossowski annabell.ossowski at gmail.com wrote: Oh, that is amazing! Thanks so much :) ?? You are appreciated. Trey and I also discussed some potential ideas for Open Spaces improvements, which we would like to propose. It is still a concern that people don?t know that the Open Spaces are happening. Also having to physically walk by the Open Spaces board in order to find out about which ones are going on at which time can be a hassle. We therefore came up with the following ideas: * Could we create a website to which we will upload a picture of the Open Spaces boards every 1-2 hours so people have a better idea of the schedule without having to walk by the boards? If it is for uploading a picture, I think creating a page onus.pycon.orgis best. Could behttps://us.pycon.org/2019/events/open-spaces/boardor something along those lines. We were thinking a URL that could easily be remembered/typed quickly after seeing it in the program, on the slide roll, or on a poster. We can use a URL shortener if needed, but it'd be nice to have apycon.orgURL if possible. Likepycon.org/os,pycon.org/open,pycon.org/open-spaces. Would it be possible to use a URL like that temporarily (during the duration of the conference)? I'm not sure about the logistics of updating the picture. It'd be nice if there was a way someone could do it from their phone (maybe via email, tweet, or similar). I can imagine some ways to do that but I don't know what API(s) the pycon.orgwebsite allows and what the mobile interface looks like. If the short URL and an easy upload setup might be possible, who should I talk to to work that out? Would that be Ernest? Understood, I will discuss the requirements with Ernest and see if a mobile interface is possible for 2019. My only concern about thepycon.orgURL is that it is used to show worldwide PyCons. I would preferus.pycon.org/os.? Is that OK with you all? * Could we add this website link to the printed program? If I have the link by March 15th, yes it can be included. * Could we show a slide with this website link in between the talks at each room to make people aware that the talks are not the only thing going on at this time? +1. In between the talks we have sponsored ads as part of the sponsor benefits. We could add into the rotation a slide about open spaces. I would like to get it designed to match our 2019 design. If you send me the content for this slide, I can work with our designer to match. Great! I can work on conveying what we were hoping for copy/design-wise for the printed program and the slides. Would it be possible to have that URL on the open spaces board as well? So as folks walk by they'll see the board and "You can see the open spaces board on your phone! See this board atpycon.org/os" Yes of course. I'll need the slide content and a decision on the final link by March 15th. Thank you all for coming up with these wonderful ideas on how to improve the usage of open spaces! If it is for uploading a picture, I think creating a page on?us.pycon.org?is best. Could be?https://us.pycon.org/2019/events/open-spaces/board?or something along those lines.? We were thinking a URL that could easily be remembered/typed quickly after seeing it in the program, on the slide roll, or on a poster. We can use a URL shortener if needed, but it'd be nice to have a?pycon.org?URL if possible. Like?pycon.org/os,?pycon.org/open,?pycon.org/open-spaces. Would it be possible to use a URL like that temporarily (during the duration of the conference)? I'm not sure about the logistics of updating the picture. It'd be nice if there was a way someone could do it from their phone (maybe via email, tweet, or similar). I can imagine some ways to do that but I don't know what API(s) the?pycon.orgwebsite allows and what the mobile interface looks like. If the short URL and an easy upload setup might be possible, who should I talk to to work that out? Would that be Ernest? Understood, I will discuss the requirements with Ernest and see if a mobile interface is possible for 2019.? My only concern about the?pycon.org?URL is that it is used to show worldwide PyCons. I would prefer?us.pycon.org/os.? Is that OK with you all?? ? * Could we add this website link to the printed program? If I have the link by March 15th, yes it can be included.? * Could we show a slide with this website link in between the talks at each room to make people aware that the talks are not the only thing going on at this time? +1. In between the talks we have sponsored ads as part of the sponsor benefits. We could add into the rotation a slide about open spaces. I would like to get it designed to match our 2019 design. If you send me the content for this slide, I can work with our designer to match.? Great! I can work on conveying what we were hoping for copy/design-wise for the printed program and the slides. Would it be possible to have that URL on the open spaces board as well? So as folks walk by they'll see the board and "You can see the open spaces board on your phone! See this board at?pycon.org/os" Yes of course.? I'll need the slide content and a decision on the final link by March 15th.? Thank you all for coming up with these wonderful ideas on how to improve the usage of open spaces! I am coming to PyCon this year and want to create 2 open spaces. I have been working with Betsy about kosher meals, and am coordinating a larger meal for those of us who keep kosher and want to have a Sabbath meal together Friday night. I don't know exactly how to create an OS request, or how to word it exactly, but below are both the Friday night dinner, and for Saturday night a music outlet :) 1) Friday night: Sabbath Dinner (in case anyone wants to have a traditional meal) 2) Saturday night: Jam session (I'll be bringing a piano) Regards, -- JP Bader President Next Health Choice, LLC www.nexthealthchoice.com @nxthealthchoice | 312-614-1267 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
