I'm looking for an experienced Python developer in the Portland area and 
was pointed in the direction of this list.  The project will involve (in 
part) developing new OpenERP modules, some Plone customization and an 
AngularJS front end for an e-commerce site.  The initial phase of the 
project is expected to last 3 to 6 months, but this could potentially 
turn into a long-term position doing further development and 
maintenance.  If you're interested or can recommend a better place to 
look for help, please let me know.

Well, you found one.  :)

However, I am not currently available for other projects.

I do share Mike's desire to set up a local OpenERP group, even if just a mailing list, so we can compare notes and help 
each other out.  OE is not an easy nut to crack.

The work I am doing is mostly with integrating OE and some legacy green screen apps, with the occasional from-scratch 
module thrown in for good measure.

Chris, Mike, and anybody else out there working with OpenERP, let me know if you'd like to get something going.

Would love to get some kind of group together.  For my experiences with
OpenERP so far, I have a V6 server that is just a walk in store that tracks
Lot Numbers.  I'm setting up a V7 instance that will replace our complete
sales system.  If successful with that, will replace our MRP system next.
 Have some developers making an authorize.net credit card module for me.
 Looking at using a Magento Connector module.  Exciting times.  For my part
in this, I'm doing all the data importing/exporting, server configs, and
riding herd on expectations :)

PS when does this become a topic we should pull out of the Python User
Group, or does it?  My netizen senses say I should have a care about others
on the list :)

It is an interesting, and powerful, system.  OpenSource and written in Python.

I'm happy to leave it on this mailing list for now -- I expect fairly low volume.

If it becomes too noisy my boss is happy to set up a dedicated ML for us.

Mike, we're also using authorize.net.  We're working on V7 modules for 
UPS, USPS and FedEx APIs, PayPal payments, selling via Amazon seller 
central and EDI with bots.

I have a primarily done authorize.net module that uses authorize.nets CMI
to store CC's on the authorize.net server.  I wouldn't mind sharing that
with you if your interested, help ease my mind having ANYONE else look at
the code. :) I can demo it for you too if you want. I have shipping modules
too, but going back to the drawing board on those.  The developer wrote a
stand alone application, but now that were looking at hooking our OpenERP
up to Magento store, the magento connector wants to use the built in
delivery methods module.
