As always, the meeting will start at 6:30pm at Urban Airship's Portland HQ, 334 NW 11th Ave: http://goo.gl/maps/U6mC. Message-ID: Ahoy Pythoneers! Thanks to all who were able to attend the meeting last week. Adam Lowry did the final Module of the Month with traceback (https://github.com/robotadam/traceback-examples), Chris Pitzer demoed his JS widgets Django project (https://github.com/chrispitzer/django-jswidgets), and Peter Banka gave an introduction to Heroku (http://www.heroku.com). Another big thanks to our speakers, and of course to Urban Airship for hosting us. We've also fortunately been able to reschedule the two talks that were missed due to speaker illness! Eric Holscher will give his Tastypie + Slumber intro at the next meeting, on February 14th, and Chris McDonald will be back on April 10th to share what he knows about PubSub using Redis. Also on the schedule for the next meeting is a talk by Brett Carter entitled, "Stupid Programming Tricks." If you have something you'd like to share at an upcoming meeting, let me know! A quick reminder - PyCon is coming up in less than 2 months and quite a few PDX Python peeps are planning to go. We've also got a few speakers representing for PDX (holla!). Registration is open, and the early bird rate is in effect until January 25th, so there's still time to butter your boss up. Registration info is online at: https://us.pycon.org/2012/registration. Check out the talk schedule at: https://us.pycon.org/2012/schedule. See you next month, Michelle P.S. Find us on IRC on the Freenode network in #pdxpython, if you haven't already. :) --- Michelle Rowley @pythonchelle http://www.meetup.com/pdxpython -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... So if you've volunteered with us at any point in the past few years, or are interested in working with us _this_ year to put on a wonderful event, please join us at 6pm. There will be snacks, pi?atas, and prizes. And, of course, opportunity to be awesome. Please RSVP on Plancast: http://plancast.com/p/9m5v/ We've also opened the Call for Proposals for this year's conference: http://opensourcebridge.org/blog/2012/01/announcing-the-2012-call-for-proposals/ That'll be open until March 15th, which is around the end of PyCon. Maybe you want to submit the talk you proposed to PyCon. Or maybe you're not going to PyCon because you'd rather be in Portland, and you should encourage others to come and give their talks at OS Bridge! (And of course, OS Bridge welcomes talks about non-Python open source technologies and communities as well. But I'd love to see a strong Python representation there.) However Friday will likely not work for me since I'm packing to move into a new apartment. I'm hoping there will still be an opportunity to volunteer. Friday is the only volunteer introduction event we have on the calendar right now, but minds are at work on how we're going to introduce volunteers for the rest of the season. We'll be in touch.
