Initial Comment:
The attached patch enables the datetime module
to build cleanly under Cygwin.

OK to apply?

The changes will certainly go into 2.3a2, which is still
weeks ahead (and that will be branched from the mainline,
again); see PEP 283. 2.3a1 is being prepared right now, and
only PythonLabs can make changes to it.

Happy New Year to you, too!

No.

Will they make it into 2.3? Or, do I have to wait until 2.3.x?
Or, 2.4?

BTW, I have a nasty test_format SEGV that I have been
fighting with for a while. I think that it is a Cygwin malloc
problem, but I'm not sure. Do you know of anyone who would
be willing to help?

BTW, Happy New Year!

That patch is fine as well.

Do you notice that all those changes won't make it anymore
into 2.3a1? There is a moratorium on checking in changes
right now, although I'm unsure whether this applies to the
release branch only.

I think that SF is screwed up. Netscape doesn't work either.
It appears that attaching a patch when submitting a new
patch is broken. Adding it later seems to be OK. Sigh...
