Great book!!

Update - I have made it thru chapter 6 and have learned much about TDD,
Selenium, and how to apply this to building Django apps.  I have not
encountered a single typo in the code which is remarkable for a pre-release
book.  Highly recommend.

We had talked about Hack Omaha and a project to check voting lists against
obituaries.  There was some question about the cost and availability of the
databases.  I got the following response from Matt on the website:

Matt Wynn Organizer <http://hackomaha.mindmixer.com/user/17524> Douglas
County would give us a copy, no doubt. They're very good about knowing
where public interest lies. Worst case, we have a copy.

Unfortuantely, the OWH doesn't have a master list of obits. We *may* be
able to hook into our library to spit out obits in XML or something though.
I'll check!

Another idea for getting names of deceased former residents of Omaha. Once
someone dies there Social Security numbers become public. Perhaps their
last known addresses do too. It might be possible (if it's not affected by
the partial shutdown) do filter the residents of Omaha who died in the last
few decades from the SS database.

Hi folks!

Hack Omaha is now a real, actual thing that is definitely happening from
November 22-24. If you get a second, head over to
hackomaha.eventbrite.comand sign up -- our Silicon Valley sponsor is
already impressed by our
numbers, and I'm hoping to blow him away.

Sounds like there's big interest in doing a dead voters analysis. IRE, a
fantastic organization, makes the entire Social Security Death database
available (
http://ire.org/nicar/database-library/databases/social-security-administration-death-master-file/).
I imagine we could get it from them, if that's what captures the
imagination. That said, the data doesn't reflect a person's address --
you'd likely have to match on full name and birthdate, and just be up front
about the potential flaws in such an analysis. Full disclosure, that's a
topic that hits right in the feels. That was one of my first analyses way
back in college -
